Historical reenactments

In the archaeological area of Ocriculum, the 11th edition of Ocriculum AD168 takes place, three days during which one can immerse oneself in the period of ancient Rome.
Hundreds of people in period costumes will re-enact the daily life of a Roman municipium in the 2nd century AD, including currency exchange, the legionaries' camp, ancient dances, ludi, and theatrical performances. This year's event will be dedicated to Ceres, goddess of the harvest, and the three days will focus on the arrival of wheat, spelt and barley at the Port of Oil, their distribution by the 'mensor frumentarius', their transport to the 'Thermopolium' of spelt for soup, to the 'Castrum' of barley for beer, and to the 'Pistrinum' of wheat for focaccia, as well as the legionary's beer, tapped directly in the Castrum Legionis. This and much more can be discovered as you walk along the paths of the site in an evocative atmosphere.
