Aurelio De Felice Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art
It is named after Aurelio De Felice in recognition of his role as artist, cultural promoter and art collector. In fact, in 1986 he made a donation to the Municipality of Terni of a substantial number of works of art that include paintings by Orneore Metelli and by other internationally famous artists as well as his own pieces.
The antique picture gallery includes the work of artists working in the Umbrian territory starting from the late Middle Ages (14th-15th century). Of particular interest is the oldest heart of the collection with pieces by the Master of the Dormitio Virginis, the Florentine Benozzo Gozzoli and the famous local painter Piermatteo d’Amelia with his majestic Franciscan Altarpiece.
The collection of graphics houses about 250 works of art signed by Chagall, Kandinsky, Mirò, Braque, Léger, Picasso and many more.
The contemporary section reconstructs the panorama from realist paintings of the post-World War II period to the Abstractionism of internationally renowned artists such as Giulio Turcato and Gino Severini, from the eclectic productions of the 1970s and the 1980s to the sculptures of Agabito Miniucchi, from post-modern experimentation to young contemporary artists.
